Plot of Don Tamil-movie
As he races to reach his college, renowned film director Chakaravarthi shares a personal story about his college days. The plot revolves around Chakaravarthi’s strained relationship with his strict father Ganesan, who aspires for him to become a civil engineer. Despite his father’s pressure, Chakaravarthi dislikes studying and resorts to lying about his test scores. Along the way, Chakaravarthi falls in love with Angaiyarkanni, also known as Angu, during their school days. Initially, Angu keeps her distance from him, but eventually reciprocates his feelings. Unfortunately, due to a confrontation between Ganesan and Angu’s father regarding their relationship, they end up separating. Chakaravarthi claims that he and Angu are just friends to avoid getting reprimanded by his father.
Upon joining the Best Engineering College (BEC) in Coimbatore, Chakaravarthi’s hopes of enjoying college life are shattered by the disciplinarian Professor Bhoominathan, who is both feared and hated by the students. Determined to improve the atmosphere on campus, Chakaravarthi devises a plan to send Bhoominathan to St. Paul’s University in Russia as a visiting professor. Meanwhile, Chakaravarthi reunites with Angu, who also enrolls at BEC. Despite his efforts to win her back, Angu remains aloof and befriends a first-year student named Lilly, who reveals that Angu’s father stopped speaking to her after the incident at their school.
Chakaravarthi eventually reconciles the two by creating a short film that touches Angu’s father emotionally. This impresses Angu and reignites their relationship. However, Bhoominathan unexpectedly returns from Russia and discovers Chakaravarthi’s role in his transfer. Seeking revenge, he complains to BEC’s chairman, Killivallavan, with a photo of Chakaravarthi and Angu at the Taj Mahal. Chakaravarthi responds by presenting a photo of Bhoominathan and Miss Swetha at the same location, which earns Killivallavan’s disapproval of Bhoominathan.
Meanwhile, Ganesan, Chakaravarthi’s father, learns the truth about his son’s test scores and his school days. Feeling deceived, he slaps Chakaravarthi in anger. To pursue his dream of filmmaking, Chakaravarthi secretly films portions of the college with the help of cameraman Perusu, for a short film competition. However, Bhoominathan discovers his secret and in the ensuing chaos, suffers a neck injury but ultimately survives.
In the film, Chakaravarthi’s father, Ganesan, disapproves of his son’s career aspirations, leading to conflicts between them. Chakaravarthi joins BEC in Coimbatore, hoping to enjoy college life, but he is disappointed with the disciplinarian professor, Bhoominathan. Chakaravarthi creates a plan to send Bhoominathan to Russia, where he can study without being bothered by him. Chakaravarthi meets Angu, whom he loves, but they get separated due to the college’s disciplinary issues. Bhoominathan returns to the college, discovering Chakaravarthi’s plan and seeking revenge. Chakaravarthi and his father argue, leading to Chakaravarthi leaving home. After a series of events, including Bhoominathan’s accident, Chakaravarthi’s short film is made into a feature film that becomes a box office hit.
